Install Campaign Monitor for WordPress

There are two ways you can install Campaign Monitor for WordPress: searching from within your WordPress installation, or downloading and installing the plugin manually.

Campaign Monitor for WordPress is for use with hosted versions of WordPress, downloaded from WordPress.org. It will not work with blogs hosted on WordPress.com.

Install Campaign Monitor for WordPress

To install from the Plugins section in Wordpress:

  1. Log in to your WordPress dashboard and click Plugins in the left sidebar.
  2. Click Add New at the top of the page, then search for "Campaign Monitor" without the quotes.
  3. In the search results, click the Install Now button on the Campaign Monitor plugin (make sure you select the one created by Campaign Monitor). The install process will begin.
  4. After the install has completed, click Activate.
  5. Click Connect, then follow the on screen instructions to log into your account.

You can now create signup forms that are linked to your Campaign Monitor subscriber lists.

Manual install

If you prefer to install the plugin manually:

  1. Open the plugin page in your web browser, then click the Download button. The plugin ZIP file will download.
  2. Log in to your WordPress dashboard, then click Plugins in the left sidebar.
  3. Click Add New at the top of the page, then on the next page click Upload Plugin.
  4. Click Choose File, select the plugin ZIP file that you downloaded, then click Install Now.
  5. On the next page, click Activate Plugin.
  6. In the left sidebar, click Campaign Monitor.
  7. Click Connect, then follow the on screen instructions to log into your account.

You can now create signup forms that are linked to your Campaign Monitor subscriber lists.

Add reCAPTCHA to signup forms

Google's reCAPTCHA is highly recommended to help filter out spambots. To set up reCAPTCHA:

  • Set up a Google account, if you don't have one already.
  • After you have signed in to your Google account, visit the reCAPTCHA page.
  • Register the domain your signup form will be on.
  • Copy and paste the reCAPTCHA site key and secret key somewhere safe.
  • In WordPress, click Campaign Monitor in the left sidebar, then select Settings.

To enable reCAPTCHA, when creating a new form or editing an existing form, set "Captcha" to Enabled.
