Creative lab uses AI to generate a brand-matched image or asset inside the email builder. Describe what you want, and it asks a few questions to help generate the result you're after.
It draws on your brand, so your logo, colours, and fonts carry through automatically. You can view and update your brand in your brand hub at any time, and the more complete it is, the more on-brand your images will be.
Where to find creative lab
In the email builder, open the Build panel and find the Creative lab tile. Drag it into your email where you want the image to go. Creative lab opens.
Generate an image with creative lab
A few quick steps set up your image, then creative lab asks a couple of follow-up questions to sharpen the result.
1. Choose a shape
Pick the shape that fits the spot in your email, then choose Continue.
- Landscape (3:2)
- Portrait (2:3)
- Square (1:1)
2. Add a reference image (optional)
A reference image helps creative lab match your style and colours. Upload one with Select, or choose a brand image beneath the field. To continue without a reference image, choose Skip, use my brand style. Then choose Continue.
3. Describe the image
Describe what you want in a short, specific sentence. Creative lab asks follow-up questions if it needs more. Choose Start creating.
4. Answer the follow-up questions
Creative lab asks a few questions about the image, such as style, any text to include, and layout. Select an option or type your own. Generate whenever you have given enough detail.
5. Generate your image
Creative lab creates your image, usually in under a minute. You do not have to wait: minimise the creative lab panel and keep working, and we'll let you know when it's ready. Watch the creative lab status at the bottom of the Build panel, then choose View image when it shows Your image is ready!
6. Insert or make changes
Choose Insert into email to add the image to your campaign. To make changes before inserting, describe them in the text box, then submit your request. Inserted images land in the block you're working in, and you can resize and crop them like any other image.
Make changes to your image
If the image is close but not quite right, describe what to change in the text box, for example "add another person" or "remove the text", then submit your request. Creative lab builds on your earlier direction, so asking for a change usually beats starting over. Repeat as often as you need before inserting.
Tips for better results
- Keep your brand current in your brand hub so creative lab works from your latest logo, colours, and fonts.
- Be specific about the subject, mood, and setting.
- Add any on-image text at the question step, not in your main description, so it renders cleanly.
Availability
Creative lab is available to eligible Campaign Monitor customers. Availability and usage limits depend on your account type and plan.
