Link Salesforce campaigns to sent email campaigns

If you use Salesforce campaigns, there's a feature in Campaign Monitor for Salesforce that allows you to link a sent email to a Salesforce campaign page. The link is made available through the "Campaign Monitor Statistics" object added to Campaign page layouts.

After you have created and sent an email campaign from Campaign Monitor:

  1. In Salesforce, create a new Salesforce campaign or open an existing one.
  2. In the "Campaign Monitor Statistics" section, click Link to Campaign Monitor.
  3. Select an available campaign and click Link Campaign.

You can only link one email campaign to a Salesforce campaign, and the same email campaign can't be linked to multiple Salesforce campaigns.

Sync campaign statistics with Campaign Monitor

By default, when you link a Salesforce campaign to a sent email, campaign statistics are not imported to save on storage space. To sync statistics for all linked email campaigns:

  1. In Salesforce, click the app menu at the top right, then select Campaign Monitor Admin.
  2. Click the Campaign Settings tab.
  3. Below "Update Salesforce Campaigns", select Yes.

Sync campaign member statuses with Campaign Monitor

You can update Salesforce campaign member statuses using email campaign statuses like opened, sent, clicked, unsubscribed and bounced:

  1. In Salesforce, click the app menu at the top right, then select Campaign Monitor Admin.
  2. Click the Campaign Settings tab.
  3. Select an update frequency below the "Refresh" heading:
    • Never — Never update the Campaign member statuses.
    • Always — Update the member status with every Campaign Monitor sync, based on their latest activity with an email campaign.
    • Once — Only update the status with the member's first email activity after "sent". This is useful if you plan to manually update statuses after the member's first interaction.
  4. Next, map campaign monitor activity statuses to Salesforce member statuses, by setting custom status names below "Update Salesforce Campaign Members".
  5. To automatically update the "Responses in Campaign" record in response to a specific email activity, click the Responded checkbox to the right of that activity.
  6. Below "Auto Create Missing Statuses" select Yes to automate adding your custom member statuses to Salesforce.
  7. Click Save.
