Campaign Monitor for Shopify gives you access to your valuable customer data, right from within your Campaign Monitor account.
As customers are synced to your subscriber list, they're automatically added to relevant segments, such as repeat customers or high spenders. Below we'll explain how custom fields and segments are set up in your Campaign Monitor account, based on customer data from your Shopify store.
Custom fields
When you connect your Shopify account to Campaign Monitor, a set of custom fields are created in Campaign Monitor to store your most useful customer data. The following custom fields are added to your selected list:
- Order Count
- Total Spend
- Email Marketing Consent
- Email Marketing Opt-in Level
- Currency
- Country
- Shopify Id
- Created At
These custom fields are used to create pre-packaged segments. To see the custom fields in Campaign Monitor, after you've connected your store to a list:
- Click Lists & subscribers, then click Shopify Customers (or the existing list you connected the integration to).
- In the left sidebar, click Custom fields.
To view Shopify customer data associated with a particular subscriber on the list, open the subscriber snapshot page, then look in the left sidebar.
Pre-packaged segments
The segments created for your list are based on what we've found to be the most actionable audiences in Shopify, such as high spenders and first time customers. Use them to start sending more targeted, more engaging email campaigns right away. For example:
- reward your top customers with exclusive offers that keep them coming back to your store
- let specific customers know about new products or services you're launching
- engage customers who haven't purchased yet.
Use customer segments to build dynamic content campaigns, where each section of content can be tailored to a specific group of people.
View the segments created for your list
After you've connected your Shopify store follow these steps to see the pre-packaged segments in your Campaign Monitor account:
- Click Lists & subscribers, then click Shopify Customers (or the existing list you connected the integration to).
- In the left sidebar, click Segments.
Segment rules
The following segments are created after you connect your Shopify store to Campaign Monitor:
Pre-packaged segment | Rule |
Customers with 0 purchases (Prospects) | "Order Count" custom field matches exactly 0. |
High spending customers | "Total Spend" custom field is greater than or equal to 500. |
High spending repeat customers | "Order Count" custom field is greater than or equal to 5 and "Total Spend" custom field is greater than or equal to 500. |
Newsletter subscribers | "Email Marketing Consent" custom field matches exactly "subscribed". |
Repeat customers | "Order Count" custom field is greater than or equal to 5. |
You can customize these pre-packaged segments by modifying the rules, or create your own segments from scratch using custom fields. For example, add or delete a rule in a segment, or edit a rule by setting a different currency value or number.
